Clients testimonials

Personal consultation with Tom helped me to re-evaluate the complexity of my robustness testing and optimization processes. Plus, it has helped me with a specific plan on how to take things forward. It has given me some great ideas on how to avoid overfitting and make my testing more robust and provided tips on low hanging fruit in terms of the best markets to trade for intraday/short-term breakouts.
- Craig Peters, semi-advanced trader, United Kingdom
As an experienced trader, I used Tomas´s consultation to get more clarity on best-practise robustness testing procedures, risk management, and portfolio management. He was quickly able to help me refine my current trading and system development approaches, and pointed me to really practical measures that I could implement immediately. I found Tomas to be not only extremely knowledgeable but very helpful and a great teacher. This has given me more confidence in developing robust strategies that work, and I would recommend his mentoring as extremely valuable for any systems trader."

Challenges I help my client with - to get more clarity, higher efficiency and out-of-the-box ideas:

  • Highly efficient development process
Do you use a sound, robust development process? How efficient are you in producing high-quality trading strategies? Can you produce at least a dozen each month?

  • Beyond-usual robustness testing
Nobody wants to see his strategies fail. How tough is your robustness testing procedure? Do you use at least 2 or 3 steps in your robustness evaluation process? Can you have 100% confidence in each strategy you trade live?

  • High-level risk management
Many traders have failed in the past just because of poor risk management. Are you properly capitalized? Do you know when to switch your strategy off, or switch it for another? Do you know your worst case scenarios? What is your plan for how to handle them?

  • Cutting edge conceptual approach
Conceptual thinking is one of the key factors in trading. Do you think conceptually at all? Do you know where the opportunity is to take your concept to the next level?

  • Portfolio building
One strategy helps you to learn, but with a portfolio you will grow. What is your plan to build the best portfolio possible? How do you capitalize your portfolio? How do you manage your strategies on the portfolio level?

  • Breakout strategies and Market Internals
Can you produce 200 high-quality breakout strategies per month like we can in our hedge-fund? Have you ever had access to almost 1,000 breakout strategies updated every day, to extract incredible insight from them? Do you use Market Internals to lower your drawdowns?

Client application & selection process

Because my time is very limited and I highly value my deep trading insight and know-how, I am quite selective regarding the clients I choose to work with.
My client selection rules are:
  1. I only work with traders that I know for sure are very serious about their goals.
  2. I only work with traders that I know for 100% certain I can help overcome their challenges.
  3. I only work with semi-advanced, advanced, and professional traders.
  4. I only work with futures, stocks, and ETFs traders (no FX traders).

I am willing to share my deep trading insights and experiences only with traders that I know for sure will be able to benefit highly from all the information and implement it properly.

Why I could be the right person for you:

President Of Striker Securities, Inc

Tomas is a professional trader,  who for the last 10 years has specialized in developing trading systems. We have been tracking his trading systems for about 5 years and they generally show very robust, stable and above average performance. Striker is pleased to work with someone like him - a real professional with enthusiasm and deep knowledge of trading.

Tomas is one of the most creative traders I know.
He is able to generate unique trading ideas and elegant solutions to system development challenges. We've worked together on a number of projects and I've always found him to be professional, knowledgeable and extremely helpful.

Tomas has been a professional trader for more than a decade and I have had the privilege of monitoring his accounts in action since 2006. His systems are performing as some of the best I have ever monitored and executed. I have been in the trading industry since 2002 and worked with many developers from all over the world. Tomas is definitely the one to consider.

What value will you get from consultation with me?

This more detailed feedback from my client, Craig Peters, should give you a better idea of the value you can get from my consultation:

How did you like the private session?

I thought it was extremely informative. It was targeted specifically at the individual issues that I personally had as a trader. Considering the large amount of detail to get through in an hour, I thought it covered all of the bases that I wanted to cover.

Also, I really appreciated your openness in discussing your own approach to trading, your latest thinking around certain concepts. What also solidified everything was being able to contact you afterwards with follow-up questions to things which needed some clarification. It’s difficult to understand everything in an hour so this was essential to me.

What value did you get from it?

There were a number of things I found valuable:

  • It forced me to re-evaluate the complexity of my robustness testing and optimization processes. I think what’s difficult sometimes, psychologically speaking, is making processes and systems simpler. I’m not sure I would have recognized this on my own, or at least not until after months or years of painful fruitless research.

  • It has helped me with a specific plan on how to take things forward.

  • It has given me some great ideas on how to avoid overfitting and make my testing more robust

  • Tips on low hanging fruit in terms of the best markets to trade for intraday/short-term breakouts

Which specific topic gave you the most insight / help from me?

The most insightful topic by far was walking through your robustness testing process and the process for avoiding overfitting. It was clear, from what you showed me,  how much thought and effort went into making these processes as robust as you can possibly make them.

To me, this topic was by far the most important. As they say, “You can feed a man a fish, and he’ll eat for a day. Or you can give him a fishing rod, and he’ll eat for a lifetime.”.

Knowing examples of good strategies to try is good but knowing the process for testing and evaluating strategies robustly is far more useful.

Would you recommend me to a friend or other traders - if yes, which type of traders?

Yes, I would recommend you to other traders. First I would say they need to be seasoned experienced traders, themselves, to get the most out of it. Although not necessarily consistently profitable.

If they were too inexperienced, then too much of the hour would be taken up by general questions that could be solved from viewing information online, in books or in cheaper big group sessions.

I think they would also need to have an affinity for pure algorithmic trading, since this approach is ultimately aimed at that.

FAQ

Do you accept just any client?

No. I only work with semi-advanced, advanced, and professional traders. This is the group of traders I can provide the most value. Besides, I want to see that between myself and a trader approaching me for a consultation is a “perfect match” as well, meaning that I can provide him a lot of value and he really will be able to use it and implement it effectively. I don’t work with just any trader, I am pretty selective as my time is very limited. I am willing to share my deep trading insight and experiences with very serious traders only. I also don’t accept forex traders (only futures, stocks, and ETFs).

Why don´t you accept beginning traders?

I used to. However, I found out that a lot of questions from beginning traders are often related to technical issues and challenges. In my hedge fund, I work with a team of IT and programming experts and I am not the right person to discuss technical issues, challenges, and obstacles with. I am mainly a highly conceptual thinker, with the ability to come up with a high-level solution to different practical aspects of trading, like strategy development, risk management, robustness testing, portfolio building, etc. Mostly, only semi-advanced, advanced and professional traders are able to take full advantage of the depth and insight of the information and feedback I can provide. Beginning traders are not usually at a level where they could appreciate this level of information and at the same time I wouldn’t feel right about providing very basic, beginner's information for the fee that I charge and that is adequate for a different level of consultancy. These are the main reasons I decided to work with semi-advanced, advanced and professional traders only.

I would like to get a consultation with you, however, I am not sure if the term "semi-advanced, advanced, or professional trader” applies to me. What shall I do?

I understand that. In that case, please just use the application form above and tell me more about your current situation as well as your current level of trading experience. I will get back to you soon if I believe we could be the “right match” to work together.

Do you provide some follow-up support after a consultation?

If anything is left unclear after the consultation, or if some consulted topic needs more clarification, a client can send me one email within 3 days after the consultation and I will be happy to provide more clarity (only to questions directly related to the topics of the previous consultation, 3 questions maximum).

Do you provide consultation in breakout strategies development and Market Internals implementation too? From what I know, these are your main fields of expertise.

Yes, I do. As far as I know that I have the “right match” with a client, I am happy to share my deep insights and experience in both of these trading fields.

Do you provide consultation for other hedge funds?

Yes, I do. I already work with some. I like working with hedge funds, especially at their very early stages (new hedge funds), as this is the stage where I can really provide a lot of value and help.
